General Policies

The following are our policies for 2024-2025 season. Please review our policies prior to registration.

Thank you! 🌞

Bullying: We have a zero tolerance for violence and bullying at Trailside Academy. If a situation were to occur, a parent meeting will be held. Dependent on the severity of the situation, it may warrant the individual being dismissed from the program.

Behavior: We require that all students treat instructors, volunteers, each other, and our property with respect. We ask that students are able to keep hands to themselves, listen to their instructors and group leaders, as well as treat our leased property, furniture, and materials with care. If a student requires additional assistance in order to meet these requirements, parents or guardians are always welcome to accompany their student.

Inclusivity: We are a secular, inclusive environment that is accepting and welcoming of all members.

Property: Trailside rents at a wonderful church facility. Students are to show care while interacting with the property. If a student intentionally damages property, the family will be held responsible for the damage.

Illegal Substances/Weapons/Profanity: Students may not bring any illegal substances on property. Students are prohibited from bringing any weapons. We are a profanity-free zone.

Devices: While devices are allowed on property, students must keep them in their backpacks unless otherwise instructed. Students may not have devices out in class or during free time unless permission is given.

Lost and Found: Students are solely responsible for keeping up with their belongings while on property. Our lost and found refreshes once in December and at the end of May. Members are highly encouraged to check the lost and found frequently.

Food:

  • Students are required to bring their own lunch.
  • Students are encouraged to bring a snack and a bottle of water.
  • We are unable to microwave or refridgerate student lunches. If bringing warm lunch, please use a thermos.

Arrival: Parents must sign in their students using at the front desk upon dropping them off. Students may not walk into our facility unattended.

Dismissal: Please be sure sign out your student at the front desk. Students may not walk out of our facility unattended.

Weather or Unforeseen Events: Our facility may close due to inclement weather. Closures will be announced via our social media pages and via email. If Cobb or Cherokee counties close, we will close as well. Additionally, if our leased building experiences an inconvenience that prevents us from attending (power outage, fallen tree, burst pipes, etc.) the facility may close for those purposes as well.

Homeschool Program: We are a homeschool group built to be a resource within the local community. We offer supplemental learning opportunities, enrichment, social experiences, and community to our program members. We are not considered the primary educator of any of our members nor are we considered a school. We are not a licensed child care facility.
